Dr Bamfo is a skilled Consultant Obstetrician with Subspecialist accreditation in Maternal and Fetal Medicine. In her current practice at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS Foundation, she is Clinical Lead for both Fetal Medicine and Antenatal Screening. She has implemented a pivotal pre-term birth screening service as part of her Consultant-led care provision for mothers with ‘enhanced risk’ factors. She is a caring and compassionate Obstetrician and believes passionately in providing well informed choice to parents-to-be.
Dr Bamfo’s completed her specialist training in prestigious hospitals in London and Manchester. Dr Bamfo’s interest in Fetal Medicine started during her medical student placement at Yale University (Connecticut, USA). She gained valuable experience undertaking a 3-year research fellowship at Harris Birthright Research Centre for Fetal Medicine, King's College (supervised by world renowned Fetal Medicine pioneer Professor Kypros Nicolaides) and subsequently obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) Research at the University of London.
Dr Bamfo is well published in peer-review journals. For almost 10 years she was a Trainee Editor at the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and has reviewed for the Journal of International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG). She attends pertinent international conferences and continues to participate in research studies (her research interests are hypertensive diseases of pregnancy, fetal growth restriction, preterm birth and large babies). Miss Victoria Asfour is a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician. She has over 15 years of experience. Since 2020, Miss Asfour has been a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology for the NHS and has worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a specialist interest in urogynaecology, at the Northwick Park Hospital, part of the North West London University Healthcare NHS Trust. She is also an NHS consultant at East Sussex Health care NHS Trust.
Miss Asfour is skilled in many areas of gynaecology and has a specialist interest in urogynaecology, including incontinence, prolapse, pelvic floor dysfunction arising after childbirth, and problems with intercourse.
Miss Asfour has a keen interest in research and has published papers, book chapters, case studies, and editorials. She has presented her work internationally and is a reviewer for esteemed journals, including the International Urogynaecology Journal, the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has held dual membership at the Royal College of Surgeons since 2009 and at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists since 2014.
